5 Romantic Dates in the Smoky Mountains
Valentine’s Day is less than a month away. Whether you plan to visit for a long Valentine’s Weekend (which is bookended by President’s Day), or choose another time to visit, there are plenty of romantic things to do. Here are our top 5 ideas for romantic dates in the Smoky Mountains.
- Explore the Rocky Top Wine Trail.
Discover five unique wineries that stretch through Sevierville, Pigeon Forge and
Gatlinburg as you explore the Rocky Top Wine Trail. Eagle Springs Winery, located
just off I-40 Exit 407 is the first winery along the trail and features honey wines
with names like Wildfire, Courage and Wohali Legend. Hillside Winery is the next
stop – and also a great place to take a winery tour (they begin at noon daily).
Hillside’s wines are made with Tennessee grapes and the winemakers there use an
Italian style wine making technique. The Apple Barn Winery is located on a working
apple orchard in the heart of Sevierville and offers a variety of sweet dessert
wines. Try the Apple Raspberry! Mountain Valley Winery utilizes French and German
wine making techniques and features true southern flavors – like Muscadine wine.
Sugarland Cellars is the final stop along the trail and features wines whose names
were inspired by Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Sip Hellbender, named for a
type of salamander found in the park, or try Baskins Creek Blanc, named for a hike
in the national park that leads to a beautiful waterfall.
- Fall in love at the waterfalls.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park has several romantic trails leading to beautiful
waterfalls. Some of our favorites include Laurel Falls, a 2.6 mile round-trip hike
that takes approximately two hours to complete. This trail is considered moderate
in difficulty, but if you’re looking for a little more ease (and a trail that is
accessible to wheelchairs and strollers), look no further than Cataract Falls. The
round-trip hike to these small falls is less than ¼ mile and the access trail – just
behind the Great Smoky Mountains National Park Visitor Center on the Tennessee
side – is easily accessible and provides plenty of parking.
- Soar with the Eagles.
Book an exciting helicopter tour of the Smoky Mountains with Scenic Helicopter Tours.
This company has been in business more than 40 years providing safe, high-quality
tours of the Great Smoky Mountains. Choose a quick sunset tour of the foothills and
Douglas Lake or select one of the flights over Great Smoky Mountains National Park
that have made this company so famous. Want to make the flight even more special? Pop
the question while flying over the mountains! You can even choose to tie-the-knot
while flying with Scenic.
- Book a Couples Massage.
After adventure on the trails and in the skies, book a relaxing couples massage and
unwind together at the award-winning Oak Haven Spa. Choose from treatments like the
Almost Heaven Massage, Reflexology treatments and even side-by-side Ice Cream
Pedicures! Now that’s sweet.
- Curl up by the fire.
Sometimes staying in is even more romantic than hitting the town. Make plans to book a
great hotel or condo that features a cozy fireplace – like Comfort Inn Apple Valley
or Apple View River Resort - or choose a
luxurious mountain cabin (nearly all of them
in Sevierville feature both gas fireplaces and hot tubs).
If you’re ready to try something different in 2015 – consider a fun, confidence building
adventure trip to Sevierville and the Smoky Mountains!
