Just which songs are featured? Dolly fans will be excited to know that this season includes stories based on “Two Doors Down,” “If I Had Wings,” “J.J. Sneed,” “These Old Bones,” “Down From Dover,” “Sugar Hill,” “Cracker Jack” and “Jolene.”

Each episode features a different story and a different celebrity cast – and Dolly herself makes cameos in several. Notable cast members include Julianne Hough, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kathleen Turner, Delta Burke and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.

In the trailer for the series, Parton said, “Songs that I’ve written, they’re stories of my life. Every trial, every struggle, every smile, every sorrow. It’s the melody of my memories. It’s the sound of my heartstrings.”

Dolly wrote more than 3,000 songs in her lifetime. Each year the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce hosts the Mountain Soul Vocal Competition, which honors the songwriting of Sevierville’s hometown girl. During this unique competition, vocalists from around the nation sing one of the 3,000+ songs written by Dolly in his or her own style.
