HEARTSTRINGS
A New Netflix Series Inspired by Dolly Parton’s Songs
Dolly Parton is one busy lady– branching out into new genres of music, creating Dolly-inspired product lines, and creating beloved movies and shows. Her Netflix series, Heartstrings, is one of our favorites and does a great job exploring the stories of her songs. Each episode in the eight-part anthology is based on an iconic song written by Parton and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it!

Just which songs are featured? Dolly fans will be excited to know that this season includes stories based on “Two Doors Down,” “If I Had Wings,” “J.J. Sneed,” “These Old Bones,” “Down From Dover,” “Sugar Hill,” “Cracker Jack” and “Jolene.”
Each episode features a different story and a different celebrity cast – and Dolly herself makes cameos in several. Notable cast members include Julianne Hough, Ginnifer Goodwin, Kathleen Turner, Delta Burke and Kimberly Williams-Paisley.
In the trailer for the series, Parton says, “Songs that I’ve written, they’re stories of my life. Every trial, every struggle, every smile, every sorrow. It’s the melody of my memories. It’s the sound of my heartstrings.”
Can’t get enough Dolly? Her new Hallmark movie “Christmas at Dollywood” debuts December 8 and is part of the Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas lineup.

Dolly has written more than 3,000 songs in her lifetime and continues to create new ones regularly. Each year the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce hosts the Mountain Soul Vocal Competition, which honors the songwriting of Sevierville’s hometown girl. During this unique competition, vocalists from around the nation sing one of the 3,000+ songs written by Dolly in his or her own style. Entry deadline for the annual event is typically the first week of April. Learn more at BloominBBQ.com.
