Meet some tiny monkeys. Get behind the wheel of a racecar. Throw axes. Swoop down waterslides. Go up in the air, under water, and beyond imagination. From art to zoos, history to sports, adrenaline-pumping action to spectacular natural vistas, here are some great things to do with kids of any age.

Wee Ones & Tots

Rainforest Adventures Discovery Zoo houses an intriguing collection of exotic birds, bugs, reptiles, mammals, and amphibians. Among the 600 creatures representing more than 130 species are golden headed lion tamarins, some of the smallest and rarest monkeys on earth.

A network of more than 12 miles of paved, lighted paths connects the city of Sevierville with its natural surroundings. These Greenways provide scenic views and are great for pushing strollers or holding tiny hands while enjoying the great outdoors.

Sevier Air Trampoline & Ninja Warrior Park boasts a three-story net system specifically designed for ages two to ten. Entertain older kids at the same time with 60 trampolines, an obstacle course inspired by the popular “Ninja Warrior” TV show, two tumble tracks for gymnastics, a rope swing, and a jousting area above a foam pit.

Five Oaks Riding Stables offers hour-long, 3.5-mile horseback rides through nature and past some man-made surprises. Riders age three and older are welcome.


Youngsters


Big Creek Expeditions guides whitewater rafting trips on the Upper Section of the Pigeon River for paddlers age eight and older. For a calmer introduction to the sport, anyone age three and older can enjoy a scenic float trip that meanders 5.5 miles in a calmer section of the river with Class I and II rapids.

NASCAR SpeedPark Smoky Mountains packs 25 acres with race-themed go-kart tracks, bumper boats, amusement park rides, a three-story climbing wall, two miniature golf courses, an arcade, and more. There’s high-energy fun for all ages, but young kids adore the Baby Bristol track. Most rides require a minimum height of 36 inches to go alone; options increase when riding with an adult.

Ripley’s Old MacDonald’s Mini-Golf at Tanger Outlets Sevierville has three 18-hole mini-golf courses that incorporate water features, barnyard characters, and interactive elements while animatronic farm animals comment on each golf swing.

Tennessee Mountain Paintball uses low impact paintball for high adrenaline fun with little pain. Billed as “the real-life video game,” anyone age seven and older can play.

Foxfire Adventure Park boasts hiking trails, a swinging bridge, and two zip-line courses. All ages welcome, but zip-liners must be age seven and older. The Little Adventurer Obstacle Course is designed for younger kiddos.


Tweens & Teens

The Pines Downtown is bringing a bit of history and fun to Downtown Sevierville. The new entertainment venue features family-friendly games (duckpin bowling and snookball are standouts) and elevated pub food. The building itself was once The Pines Theater where Dolly Parton played her first paying gig at the age of 10. As a tribute, murals of the star grace both the inside of the restaurant and the outer brick wall facing Court Avenue.

Bluff Mountain Adventures offers guided ATV trail rides in a rugged 6,000-acre private property for riders aged 16 and older. Scramble over natural terrain and up a mountain to reach some spectacular views.

Young & Young at Heart (All Ages)

Apple Barn Cider Mill & General Store is a working apple farm that serves a wide range of treats like fresh-picked apples, cider, fried pies, ice cream, candied apples, and more.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park offers abundant hiking trails, from short paved paths to challenging steep climbs. One popular trail climbs a half mile to Clingmans Dome, the highest point in Tennessee. You can also drive through the park and stop at the various lookout points to see impressive views.

East Tennessee Billiards, one of Sevierville’s newest destinations, is a pool hall and eatery with a laid-back vibe the whole family can enjoy. Dig into Southern pub food then rack up a game at one of the six diamond pool tables.

Tanger Outlets Sevierville is Tennessee’s largest authentic outlet center with nearly 100 brand-name stores offer designer clothing, shoes, accessories and more at discount prices of up to 70 percent off retail.

Scenic Helicopter Tours offers aerial tours that climb up to 1,200-feet into the air. Daily tour options range from eight to 100 miles and are suitable for all ages.

The Tennessee Museum of Aviation brings the history of human flight to life. The collection includes several vintage aircraft, radial and jet engines, military vehicles, and other artifacts.

Forbidden Caverns offers underground guided tours that showcase spectacular formations, towering natural chimneys, grottos, a stream, and the largest known wall of rare cave onyx.

Mountain Cove Marina rents pontoon boats for a half- or full day exploration of the 30,400-acre Douglas Lake.

Downtown Sevierville is pedestrian friendly and has several new murals, new restaurants, unique shops, and a self-guided historic walking tour. Don’t miss the bronze statue of hometown treasure Dolly Parton on the courthouse lawn.

Wilderness at the Smokies offers cozy accommodations plus access to Tennessee’s largest indoor waterpark as well as two seasonal outdoor waterparks. With a total of 17 waterslides, nine pools, a lazy river, and multiple water rides and attractions, guests of all ages can splash, slide, surf, and swim. An indoor adventure forest offers additional challenges.
