Santa Claus is coming to Sevierville, and he’s not camera shy! There are dozens of ways to capture the season’s magic in Tennessee’s Smoky Mountains, whether you want a keepsake photo or your kids want to share a wish with the jolly old man. Here are fun and festive places to warm up your winter this year.
Shadrack’s Super Sized Christmas Adventure invites guests to become part of a holiday story! The drive-through show combines illustrated art with lights and sound for an immersive experience the whole family will enjoy. After accidentally being struck by a shrink ray at the North Pole, guests venture through a magical world of super-sized holiday merriment. Afterward, guests are invited to visit the Christmas Workshop attraction next door at Wilderness at the Smokies for an opportunity to ice skate, enjoy holiday festivities and more. This limited time attraction will take place at the Wilderness at the Smokies complex from November 25, 2022 through January 1, 2023. Admission fees are per vehicle.
Wilderness at the Smokies goes big during the holiday season with an eye-popping array of decorations plus a great lineup of festivities. Enjoy ice skating on a real outdoor ice rink (November 11 – January 15). Get creative with holiday crafts, cookie decorating, and writing letters to Santa in Santa’s Workshop and join Mrs. Claus for storytime on select dates throughout November and December. Santa appearances will also take place at Wilderness at the Smokies on November 25 from noon until 3 p.m., as well as November 26 and December 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 21, 22, and 23 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Book special overnight packages like the ‘Winter Warm Up’ with knit gloves and other goodies, ‘Holiday Story Time’ with a copy of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas' and more treats, or the ‘Mini Christmas Tree’ package with a two-foot, pre-lit keepsake tree and additional surprises. Bass Pro Outdoor World kicks off the holiday season in early November with fun and festivities for kids of all ages. Participate in holiday craft giveaways inside the store and pose for a free 4x6-inch photo with Santa. Photo hours vary throughout the season and reservations are required—book yours in advance at basspro.com/santa.
In its final year at Smokies Stadium, Shadrack’s Christmas Wonderland opens November 4, 2022 and runs through January 1, 2023. Drive a 1.5-mile route through LED lights accompanied by holiday music. This year enjoy a 300’ drive-through RGB tunnel, a 80’ RGB light tree, and a gigantic animated field of animated lights with another 50’ tall RGB tree nestled in the middle! After enjoying the lights, be sure to stop in Santa’s Village, which is open from November 18 through December 23. Meet and greet Santa who is on site from 6 to 9:30 p.m., say hi to animals from the Little Ponderosa Zoo, enjoy an electric train ride, and participate in kids’ activities.Admission to Santa’s Village is free with admission to the light show, although there are additional fees required for some of the attractions.
Santa Hustle Smokies on Sunday, December 11, is a 5k and 10k that begins and ends at Wilderness at the Smokies. Join the race or see thousands of runners dressed like Santa along Sevierville’s city streets. Not only is the race attire jolly, so are the Christmas tunes played along the route (and the cookies and candies available at the water stations along the way). Register here.
Settle down for breakfast with Santa at Golden Corral in Sevierville on December 3 from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Then plan a Kids’ Day with Santa at Quaker Steak & Lube on December 18 from 5 p.m. until 7p.m.
Visit Santa up on the mountain. SkyLand Ranch, a new mountaintop adventure in Sevierville, will have a special Santa’s Village experience from November 19 through December 24. With a Santa’s Village ticket add on option, guests can go through Santa’s Village, play games, grab a hot chocolate and cookie or S’mores kit and even get a picture with Santa Claus.
Dollywood hosts its award-winning Smoky Mountain Christmas from November 5 through January 1, 2023. Enjoy spectacular light displays, holiday shows, and award-winning rides at one of the world’s top theme parks. Santa will be back on park again this year as well, greeting all the kids and kids at heart through December 23.
The Christmas Place in neighboring Pigeon Forge is the largest Christmas shopping village in the South and a great place to stock up on Christmas gifts and collectibles from designer-themed trees to personalized ornaments to traditional décor. Anakeesta in nearby Gatlinburg hosts a range of winter enchantments, including photo opportunities with Santa on November 25, December 2, 9, 16, and 22 from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. Santa will host an early breakfast on top of the mountain (which is a separate ticketed event) on November 26, December 3, 4, 10, 17 and 23. The Enchanted Christmas of Lights, running November 13 through January 2, features light displays throughout the magical villages, plus delicious dining, holiday shopping, and cozy places to gather. Smoky Mountain Winterfest runs November 11 through February 20 in Sevierville, a week longer than sister cities Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Throughout the three communities, more than 15 million lights stretch a total of 25 miles to create a delightful drive route.
