SEVIERVILLE GOLF CLUB
Play two championship courses in Tennessee’s Great Smoky Mountains
Tee up against the backdrop of the Great Smoky Mountains in Sevierville, Tennessee at the city’s Sevierville Golf Club, which was recently named Best Public Golf Course the last two years by the Tennessee Turfgrass Association.
Celebrating 30 years of play in 2024, the course opened as Eagles Landing Golf Club before transitioning to The Sevierville Golf Club in 2011. “The Sevierville Golf Club stands out for its natural beauty and friendly staff,” says Bob Parker, Director of Golf. “Our outstanding team is eager to take care of every guest; where else can you choose from two high-level golf courses?”
Sevierville Golf Club features two award-winning 18-hole championship courses, The Highlands and The River, plus a 9-hole play option. Both courses offer five different sets of tees to ensure fun for all skill levels, a driving range, putting and chipping greens, the award-winning Mulligan’s clubhouse, pro shop, event spaces, and more.
The Highlands, a par 70, 6,200-yard course, consistently ranks as one of the top courses in Tennessee. The course winds through lush rolling hills and past freshwater mountain ponds. “It makes you feel like you’re in the mountains of Tennessee,” says Parker. Holes on The Highlands have tighter, tree-lined fairways, and slightly sloped greens, making this a fun course for less experienced golfers while still proving challenging for veterans. Nine-hole players use the front side of The Highlands course.
The River, a par 72 course, offers unique play along and across the Little Pigeon River. Maxing out at 7,120 yards, this course is the more challenging of the two. Hence the course’s name, most holes contain water hazards, and a fair number of bunkers are located throughout. With larger greens and wider fairways, “you can really put your driving skills to the test,” says Parker. Though mostly flat, it offers some elevation and great views of the mountains and river.
The Great Smoky Mountains and Little Pigeon River lend Sevierville Golf Club its picturesque setting, but those aren’t the only aspects of nature players can appreciate while on the course. “We are home to a pair of bald eagles who have nested on the property for years,” says Parker. Many visitors are excited to witness these beautiful birds in the wild. “Our goal is to keep bald eagles on the property forever. You can make an eagle or see an eagle at the Sevierville Golf Club,” jokes Parker. Aside from the eagles who call the course home, black bears have also wandered onto the course from time to time given its proximity to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, making for a truly surprising experience.
The Club has a local membership base but is open to the public with daily fees at price points that vary to ensure an option for every budget. “We continue to improve our Members Program and Golf Packaging Program, supporting local high school golf teams and offering golf to juniors, residents, and visitors,” says Parker.
Golf cart rental is included in the greens fee; as of 2023, the Club added 150 brand-new, state-of-the-art Yamaha carts with GPS Technology.
Several championships and events have been held at Sevierville Golf Club. The full-service restaurant and bar, banquet room, and outdoor pavilion can accommodate a variety of private events, from business meetings and fundraisers to celebrations of any kind–weddings, family cookouts, birthday parties, bachelor parties, and more. “With multiple venue options, there’s no event that doesn’t work. We can accommodate small groups to gatherings of a few hundred, ” says Parker.
When it comes to tournaments, Sevierville Golf Club is the choice of many large-scale events, including the TSSAA High School Tennessee State Golf Championship, the American Junior Golf Association Preview Qualifier, the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate Championship, and more. Having 36 holes makes these events, which often include hundreds of golfers, more efficient and fun.
Mulligan’s, the award-winning clubhouse restaurant, is open to golfers and non-golfers alike. “We have a wonderful lunch menu and ever-changing daily specials,” says Parker. Golfers, visitors, and locals can enjoy drinks, food, and entertainment at Mulligan’s from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The clubhouse also offers stunning views of the mountains, river, and golf course.
The pro shop at Sevierville Golf Club stocks a wide range of apparel and golf gear at competitive prices. Head golf professional Kristin Volentine says, “We’ll match online pricing.” And she reminds us, “There’s an advantage to buying at our shop. If you buy a club from us we’ll let you try it with a bucket of balls at the driving range. There’s no reason not to come here to get custom fitted for a set of woods, irons, putter, or whole set.” Shirts, balls, and other mementos adorned with the appealing Club logo are also available. Along with custom fitting for Mizuno, Callaway, Ping, and Titleist clubs, the pro shop also provides a re-gripping service and has golf professionals available for lessons to help improve your game.
