Posted on June 29, 2020June 29, 2020

When it comes to fun and adventure, there is no better place to visit than the Great Smoky Mountains. From theme parks to world-class shopping and hiking adventures, the Smokies are a family-friendly destination to experience with lush forests, blue peaks, and a vast spread of endless mountain views. So where can you find the best views in the Smoky Mountains?  From scenic drives and overlooks to a hike in the woods, we have these can’t-miss views for your Smoky Mountain trip.

Newfound Gap is a popular scenic overlook that provides breathtaking views of the Smoky Mountains. Take a few steps onto the Appalachian Trail that passes through this point and visit the Rockefeller Memorial dedicated to Franklin D. Roosevelt, who established the park in 1940.

The view from Clingmans Dome is unlike any other! This beautiful view starts in the parking lot but for an even better experience,  hike the 1.2-mile paved trail to the highest point in the state of Tennessee. At the top, you have the ability to view an expansive view of the Smokies, over 100 miles on a clear day!

A different kind of view, Laurel Falls is one of the most popular attractions in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This 2.6-mile hike has mixed reviews on the difficulty but is hiked daily by families. The paved trail takes you to the massive 80-foot falls with peaks of mountain views along the trail.

At 6,593-feet, Mt LeConte is the third highest peak in the Great Smoky Mountains and one that should be on every hiker’s list. There are five trails in this area that offer visitors unique views. Alum Cave Trail is one of the most popular trails due to the plentiful scenery.

We end our list with a beautiful scenic drive that shouldn’t be missed on your Smoky Mountain trip. Cades Cove is a great place to see the mountains, pieces of history, and wildlife all in one place. This 11-mile drive offers visitors plenty of opportunities to get and explore historical homesteads and sites, view wildlife, and take in the amazing views.

Each Smoky Mountain view offers visitors something different. Whether you prefer to spend a day hiking to a vista overlook or taking a scenic drive and soaking in the peacefulness of the area, there are plenty of opportunities for you to enjoy some of the best views that you’ll ever experience.  Download your free vacation planner so you can find your best view!
