Don’t Make These Mistakes When Planning Your Smoky Mountains Trip

Posted on August 23, 2020October 21, 2020

Planning a trip to any destination is an exciting time but when you’re planning a trip to the Smoky Mountains, it’s extra exciting. Beautiful landscapes, exciting adventures, family fun attractions, world-class dining, and so much more are waiting for you; it’s a lot to get excited about! But there are a few common mistakes that folks make when planning their trip to the Smoky Mountains and we want to help you avoid them.

Mistake #1: Not booking lodging early

Last-minute trips are great and many people will usually be able to find a room to rent in Sevierville, TN or nearby towns on little notice, but premier lodging options often book far in advance. This is especially true for popular times and events. If you are hoping to score a Smoky Mountain cabin with a view for the fall, we suggest booking as early as May and June. If a large cabin for the extended family to be together at Christmas is your hope, we suggest booking 6 months in advance. Don’t give up on last-minute getaways or vacations that you’re planning just 30 days out. Chances are that you’ll find something to suit your needs, it just may not be as easy to find.

Mistake #2: Trying to fit every activity into your trip

It’s easy to have the mindset of trying to fit all of the activities and attractions in the Smoky Mountains into your trip. But trying to cram dozens of activities into a week-long vacation will just leave everyone in your group overwhelmed and tired, two things that don’t make for a good vacation. While planning your Smoky Mountain vacation try to leave plenty of room for rest and relaxation and be prepared to not be able to see and do everything in one trip. After all, that’s part of the beauty of the Sevierville area; you can come back time and time again and always enjoy trying something new.

Mistake #3: Not using a vacation guide and coupons

Who wouldn’t want to know insider tips to the destination that they are planning to visit, or find ways to save money in the Smokies on the lodging, attractions, shopping, and dining that they already plan to do? A Sevierville Vacation Guide will give you all of the information that you could want for a successful getaway to the Smoky Mountains, plus their Smoky Mountain Coupon Book is included in the guide!

Now that you know what mistakes to avoid when you’re trip planning, what are you waiting for? We can’t wait to see you!
