Uncover These Gems in The Smoky Mountains

Posted on December 23, 2020December 27, 2020

Are you a foodie looking for a new taste? An avid traveler looking for the next scenic view? There’s no place better than the Great Smoky Mountains to get your travel on. While your fellow tourists might be caught up in the popular sightseeing tours of Foxfire Mountain or amusement park attractions like Dollywood, find yourself instead exploring the culture and charm of the area through these four lesser-known activities.

Rocky Top Wine Trail

Rocky Top Wine Trail is a series of five wineries located right in the Smokies. Participating in the trail is completely free. Start at any one of the five participating wineries and grab a passport. Make your way down the trail, stamping your passport,  until you finish the third stop. At that point, you receive a free wine glass! If you complete all five stops, you will get another free gift. This wine tasting extravaganza is a great way to have a good time and sightsee a bit.

Cades Cove Picnic Area

The Cades Cove Picnic Area is a year-round destination right inside the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Hiking trails lead you through the Park, as you observe the wildlife around you. If you’re lucky, you might spot a whitetail deer or black bear. The Cades Cove website provides a map to follow to find the picnic area, but it’s pretty easy to spot on the way to Cades Cove.

Abrams Falls

At the western end of Cades Cove is the start of the trail to Abrams Falls. To get there, follow the Abrams Falls Trailhead for about five miles via car, where you will find a parking lot. After parking, you will enter a footbridge that takes you to the falls.

Pink Jeep Adventures in the Smokies

Rounding out the list are the Pink Jeep Adventure Tours. Travel in style through the Smoky Mountains with a tour guide and group, or reserve your own ride for you and a small number of people. There is a stop for dining along the way. And we promise plenty of fun and laughs too!

Ready to go? I know that list has me excited! Start your adventure today by downloading or requesting your free Sevierville Vacation Planner!
