3 Tips for Traveling to Sevierville and Great Smoky Mountains National Park with Your Pet

Posted on April 5, 2022April 20, 2022

If you are planning a trip to the Smoky Mountains this year and you want to travel with your pet, we have compiled a list of helpful tips for you. Bringing your furry friends along for your next adventure in the Smokies is easy when you have the right plan. From finding pet-friendly accommodations to places where all are welcome including your furry friends, nailing down some specifics before you hit the road will help ensure that your trip is the best it can be.

#1. Find Pet Friendly Accommodations (Of Which There are Many!)

Whether you want to stay in your own pet-friendly cabin in the Smokies or you’re interested in finding a hotel or condo that allows pets, there are a variety of options available. Many cabin companies in the area have pet-friendly options available, and you just have to filter for those properties when selecting the criteria you require in a property during your search. You can also call and ask about their pet friendly properties if you would rather talk to a human about it rather than navigate the online search. There are also a number of pet-friendly hotels and condos that are centrally located in Sevierville if that’s more what you’re looking for.

#2. Make the Car Ride Comfortable for Your Pet

Keeping your pet safe and comfortable on the car ride is essential to ensuring a peaceful ride for both you and your pet. Make sure to take your pet on a long walk before you leave to get their energy out – as it’s said that a tired dog is a well behaved dog. That will be particularly important for an enjoyable car ride! Make sure that your route includes places to frequently stop so that your pet can stretch its legs and exercise. There are a variety of good options available to ensure your pet is safely secured during the trip – including safety belts, harnesses, crates, and more. Make sure to bring some toys (chew toys are a great option for this purpose) to keep your pet entertained on your trip.

#3. Plan Pet-Friendly Activities for Your Trip

Finding places that your furry friend can accompany you on your tip may be just what you need to truly have an unforgettable Smoky Mountain experience. Take the time to ensure that you have mapped out the best activities for your trip that allow you to bring along your pet. Luckily, we have already compiled a guide for you with 19+ pet friendly spaces in Sevierville. Check it out to see which activities you and your family will enjoy the most!
