5 Trails to Hike to See Wildflowers this Spring in the Smokies

Springtime is one of the most beautiful times of year to visit the Smoky Mountains. Wildflowers are sprouting up everywhere and adding beautiful bursts of color to the already stunning mountainside. With blooms everywhere, you’ll want to make sure to add a wildflower hike to your agenda if you’re planning to Visit Sevierville this spring. 

  1. Porters Creek Trail

Porters Creek Trail is a moderately strenuous hike in Great Smoky Mountains National Park that includes a number of beautiful wildflowers along the trail. If you are a fan of trillium, you will see an abundance on this trail along with trout lily, May apple, spring beauty, chickweed, phlox, and bloodroot. 

  1. Cades Cove Trails 

Cades Cove graces the mountainside with a blanket of beautiful colors along the path. As you drive through Cades Cove, you will be able to stop and hike any of the amazing trails to see an assortment of wildflowers. 

  1. Gregory Bald 

Spectacular flame azaleas dot the Gregory Bald trail, among other stunning wildflowers making this a great hike for anyone that is interested in seeing the flowers on display in the Smoky Mountains. While this hike is considered strenuous, it is definitely worth the trek to see the beautiful blooms it has to offer. 

  1. Middle Prong Trail

Another strenuous but worthwhile hike for wildflower enthusiasts is the Middle Prong Trail. Crested dwarf iris, violets, rue, trilliums, violets, foamflower, and more await you on the Middle Prong Trail! 

  1. Little River Trail

Little River Trail is a beautiful trail to hike in the spring. Home to the famous synchronous fireflies, Little River Trail has even more to boast in terms of springtime appeal for hikers. Wildflowers such as yellow trillium, spring beauties, hepaticas, trailing arbutus, mountain mint, stonecrop, orange and pale jewelweed, Canadian violets, and stonecrop are just some of the wonderful wildflowers you can see on the Little River Trail. 

Take the time to explore the Smokies this spring and see all the beautiful foliage that the mountains have to offer on these wildflower hikes!
