How to Stay Cool in the Smoky Mountains when You Visit This Summer

Posted on May 7, 2022May 11, 2022

Whether you’re planning to visit in early or late summer this year, you’re in for some heat when you visit the Smokies during the summer. Tennessee summers can get pretty toasty so it’s good to have a plan to keep you and your family cool while you’re visiting so that you can enjoy your trip to the fullest. We’ve compiled a list below of some ways to stay cool while you enjoy your Smoky Mountain vacation.

Take a Dip in the Pool

One of the best ways to beat the heat while you’re in the Smokies this summer is to find a pool and jump right in. If you like, you can also lounge on the side and soak up the sun’s rays. Makes for a very relaxing and enjoyable day spent in the Smoky Mountains and keeps you from melting in the summer sun!

Splash Around All Day at a Waterpark

A great alternative if your lodging choice doesn’t have a pool is to find a local waterpark and go splash around in the cool water all day. The great thing about waterparks is you can have fun on the slides, rides, and other amazing activities while keeping cool from the summer heat.

Find Some Shade and Streams in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

While the summer heat can be pretty brutal, it’s not quite as bad at the higher elevations in the park. You can also find some cool streams to dip your feet in to keep you from overheating. This is a great way to get up close and personal with nature while also keeping yourself and your family cool all day.

Finding ways to stay cool always makes for a better summer trip. If you need some other tips, try using a spray bottle with a fan and take frequent breaks to stay hydrated while you’re out and about. You can also spend more time in your vehicle to beat the heat and find fun indoor activities to do during the heat of the day.
