4 Hiking Trails that Lead to Spectacular Views to Visit in Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Posted on May 11, 2022May 18, 2022

If you are visiting Sevierville, we know you’re probably interested in seeing Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There are lots of ways to explore the park, either by car, by foot on a hiking trail, by bicycle, by tour, or a myriad of other ways. If you have added a fun hike to your agenda for your next visit to the Smokies, we wanted to give you a good list of hiking trails that end in spectacular views. Be warned that some of these are challenging hikes, but if you’re up for the adventure, you certainly won’t be disappointed when you get to the end of any of these trails.

Chimney Tops

Chimney Tops features breathtaking views of the mountains at its apex. While it’s a difficult trail to hike (considered ‘hard’), the trek is definitely worthwhile when you get to the top. Cascading mountain views greet you at the top of your climb. This 4.4 mile trail takes an average of 2.5 hours to complete.

Alum Cave Trail

Alum Cave Trail is a long hike, 11 miles roundtrip that takes an average of 5.5 hours to complete. While it may seem daunting, the spectacular views are worth the hike. This trail is also very well maintained and that coupled with the incredible views of the Smoky Mountains makes it one of the most popular in all of East Tennessee.

Rainbow Falls

A slightly easier trail than the two previously listed, Rainbow Falls is a great choice for hikers that want to see a waterfall on their hike. This hike is around 5.1 miles long and takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes to complete but is only considered moderate in difficulty.

Mt. Cammerer Fire Tower

The Mt. Cammerer Fire Tower is considered a hard trail and is the longest trail of the bunch, clocking in at 11.8 miles. This hike takes approximately 6 hours to complete and is a beautiful adventure to hike all year round. The spectacular views of the firetower are definitely worth seeing.

These are just a few of the many trails in Great Smoky Mountains National Park that have spectacular, breathtaking views, but we think this list is a great place to start. If you have any others in mind, leave a comment below to see them featured on another list in the future!
