Most travelers to the Smokies come for the mountains, and that’s because the Smoky Mountains are truly a spectacular sight to behold. Take the time to explore Great Smoky Mountains National Park the next time that you’re in town, and use this guide to help you do so. Whether you are an outdoor enthusiast or prefer the comfort of your own car or cabin, there are many different ways you can experience the natural beauty and wonder of the GSMNP!

Hike the Smokies

Up for an outdoor adventure? Grab your travel buddy and find a trail to hike in the Smokies. In Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you will find an assortment of amazing trails that will wind you through forests with breathtaking views at the peak of the trail. You can also find hikes in varying levels of difficulty that reach cascading waterfalls and spectacular views. Hiking the Smokies is a great way to experience the splendor of the mountains up close and personal and get some much needed peace and tranquility. 

Auto-Tour the Smokies 

If you prefer to stay in the comfort of your own car (with A/C!), we completely understand. There are still lots of different ways to experience and enjoy the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Jump in the car, grab some snacks and drinks, and buckle up for an amazing joyride through the scenic Smokies. You can travel through one of the area’s most beautiful auto-tours, Cades Cove, or just drive through Great Smoky Mountains National Park until you find your own perfect spot to enjoy some R&R mountainside. 

Gaze at the Smokies 

Want to find a peaceful way to just simply take it all in? Find a cozy cabin with a spectacular mountain view. That way, you can just gaze at the Smokies and take in the majestic beauty. Imagine waking up to the sight of the beautiful Smoky Mountains right in your backyard. What better way is there to spend your vacation?

Other Ways to See the Smokies

A few other ideas to help you experience the Smokies in the best possible way include horseback riding, ziplining through the treetops, riding the aerial tramways, mountain biking, and more.
