Fall is one of the best times of the year to visit the Smoky Mountains. The absolutely breathtaking views take on an even more surreal quality when the bright red, orange, and yellow hues dominate the scenic landscape. This is the time of year to see some of the best views and get photos you’ll be able to treasure forever in the Smokies. Since fall is one of the most popular times of year to visit, it’s a great idea to take time to plan everything thoroughly so that you can have the smoothest and most enjoyable trip possible.

Finding the Best Time to Visit

Leaf peepers unite! If you are coming to see the fall foliage, you’ll have to carefully plan your trip so that you can arrive during the peak leaf peeping season. This usually occurs in late October and early November. However, even if you have a trip planned earlier in the season, you will be able to see some beautiful fall colors. You can just see the full expression of the fall changes to the mountains in early November. Be aware that the peak leaf changing times may vary depending on weather conditions.
