3 Must-See Views in the Great Smoky Mountains this Winter

Posted on December 26, 2022January 9, 2023

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park is a great place to visit any time of year, but winter brings with it unique opportunities to witness some truly majestic views. From snow-covered mountain peaks to frozen cascading waterfalls, the park has plenty to offer during the colder months. Here are three of the most breathtaking views that you can experience in the Smokies this winter.

Clingmans Dome Observation Tower

Standing at 6,643 feet above sea level, Clingmans Dome is the highest point in Tennessee and offers visitors one of the most spectacular panoramic views imaginable. On a clear day you can see up to 100 miles away! Take a trip up the observation tower for an unobstructed view of the mountains—especially stunning when blanketed in snow. There’s nothing quite like standing amidst a sea of white and sparkling snowflakes!

Cades Cove

The winter view from Cades Cove is simply breathtaking. The snow-covered mountains, the tranquil bodies of water, and the forests blanketed in white create a scene that is both peaceful and magical. And while the view is stunning in any season, there is something about the beauty of nature that is even more special in the winter. As the days grow shorter and the weather gets colder, we are reminded of the simple joys that can be found in spending time outdoors.

Andrews Bald Summit View

The Andrews Bald Summit offers some of the best views in all of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. With its rolling pastures and stunning landscapes, it’s no wonder why this spot is so popular! The bald summit provides views of distant mountain peaks that are even better when covered with a layer of fresh snowfall. It may be chilly but it’s worth it—trust us!

Wintertime is an amazing opportunity to witness some truly majestic sights within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. So if you’re near Sevierville this winter season, make sure to check out Clingmans Dome Observation Tower, Cades Cove, and Andrews Bald Summit for truly unforgettable experiences! You won’t regret bundling up and seeing these beautiful places firsthand!
